MMOBOMB
Feb 21, 2024
Well, this is a surprise. It’s been a long time since we’ve had cause to mention the MOBA, Gigantic. In fact, our last post was in July of 2018 when we wrote about a special farewell livestream event. I don’t think any of us thought we’d be hearing news about the game again. Obviously, we were wrong.
Today, we were all surprised by Gearbox dropping a trailer for Gigantic Rampage Edition, along with an April 9 launch date and a $20 purchase price. The developers are now taking signups for Closed Beta via the game’s website.
The game, which is now in development under Abstraction Games, is being billed as “a premium and definitive release of the original 5v5 MOBA Hero Shooter." Fans of the original game will be happy to know that it features everything they’re familiar with, including all 23 heroes, the original maps, game modes, and more. The Rampage Edition will also launch with two new Heroes (Roland and Kajir) as well as two new maps (Picaro Bay and Heaven’s Ward).
Of course, as is more or less expected of multiplayer games launching on multiple platforms, the game will feature cross-platform play between consoles and PCs. It’s slated to be available on PC via Arc, the Epic Games Store, and Steam, as well as PlayStation 4 & 5 and Xbox One and Series X|S. It’s also worth noting that the devs plan to launch future content, including Ranked Mode and new hero skins in free updates post-launch.
