MMOBOMB
Aug 13, 2024
Another month and it's time for another patch to just randomly appear in Blizzard's MOBA, Heroes of the Storm. They've been showing up with increasing consistency lately, leading many players to speculate on exactly what the company has up their sleeve for the once "totally-not-getting-more-updates" title.
While recent patches focused on small things like bug squashing and hero balancing, (this patch does, too), there's something a bit different about today's update. Two items popped out at me and seem to have popped out to players on social media.
The Heroes of the Storm title screen has changed and so has the music played upon boot up. In addition to the new screen, the game's shop has been updated with new items and bundles.
Sure, anyone who still plays Heroes certainly enjoys fixes and balancing patches, but was anyone clamoring for a new title screen and music? This seems like the type of thing that gets updated when you expect a new audience to have eyes on the game soon. X replies are clamoring for an Xbox release and while I think a console announcement would be very cool, it's anyone's guess as to whether that would be the reason for the latest update.
Full patch notes are up if you want to check in on the hero updates. The patch is up on NA servers now and will show up on the servers in other regions soon.
