Phoenix Labs is looking at ways to make things more interesting for Dauntless players. According to a new dev blog, this could include bringing Pursuits back to the monster hunting game. It won’t be Pursuits exactly as they were before, and it won’t be right away though. The dev team is currently working on changes that will make them “bigger and better” and plans to roll them out in Summer 2024. The idea is to give players new ways to engage with the game while keeping targeted Behemoth hunting as a focus.
Pursuits will allow players to choose the Behemoth they want to hunt, allowing them to avoid a lot of repetition. That said, they’re looking at ways to make the mode appealing to players of different types. While they know some players will just want to get in, kill, and get out, they also understand that some will want to explore more.
With that in mind, the team is looking at adding side quests and encounters for players who do explore to discover. Currently, proposed quests include things like protection and exploration/discovery quests. These will allow players to get a bit deeper into the game’s lore and learn more about the world and characters.
Another thing being looked at is including things like wandering Behemoths and other creatures in new encounters. These may attack NPCs and structures, requiring players to defend them.
Finally, the developers are looking at giving Pursuits multiple difficulty levels. The Behemoths may be similar throughout the level, but not exactly the same.
