Last week we found out that the team at Airship Syndicate had received some very welcome news from Sony. Wayfinder's Echoes update, the update that took the game from a planned F2P live service game to a premium product with no cash shop, was finally approved for release on Sony's PS5 console. The update would launch this week and the game would return to the PlayStation Store so those that didn't own it could purchase it once again. Sadly, we learned that the PS4 version would go offline at some point, but that date has yet to be announced.
Whelp, true to their world, Echoes and the Quality-of-Life Update 2 are now live on PS5 and you can hit up the store if you want to buy the RPG. Xbox's launch is still planned for later this year...and yes, mods are still planned as part of some future update!
However, that is nowhere NEAR all the Wayfinder news we received today.
The first additional big announcement is that early access is coming to an end. Wayfinder will hit full launch on October 21st. Launch will add another new character, a new open world zone, new dungeons, and a collaboration with Critical Role. This partnership was forged as both groups know what it is like to try and keep a project alive in the midst of changes and challenges, according to Airship Syndicate.
As a way to support the game, a $19.99 Critical Role bundle will be available on all platforms. The bundle includes 4 new character personas, a trinket mount and saddle, 4 character charms, 15 housing items, and 10 sprays. This bundle and future bundles will not be sold in game as the team doesn't want players to feel pressured into buying them, but players did want a way to support the game's evolution, so this was the team's compromise.
If you have questions about the Echoes update and what's included if you previously purchased the early access Founder's Packs, take a look at the FAQ to learn more. Spoiler, no, you won't need to buy anything, if that's the front that concerned you the most.
