MMOBOMB
Feb 11, 2025
A new version update will drop on February 12th in Final Fantasy XI and it comes with good news and bad (but not terrible) news. The bad news is that the developers needed to shut down Limbus in order to make improvements to the content. These changes were teased previously in a recent New Year’s letter from the team we covered in a few months ago as part of making gear upgrading easier for solo players.
This shutdown will last until the work is finished. This is expected to take “several months”. It appears it will take a good bit of work on the developer’s part as they have a lot of data that needs to be divided before being added to the production environment. Unfortunately, the current version can’t be maintained while they’re doing this.
As the shutdown of Limbus will impact things like the acquisition of beastcoins and upgrade material, the dev team is looking at other ways these can be provided to players. It’s also noted that those currently working on their upgrades don’t need to rush to earn them.
On to better news. Finally, the Besieged level is being scaled for players level 99 and higher. In addition, the team is planning to add Level 10 to the beastman cap.
Another bit of good news is that Macro Test dummies will FINALLY be added and will be found in the MMORPG’s Batallia Downs, Rolanberry Fields, and Sauromugue Champaign. They won’t break when you attack them, so feel free to smack them around all you want.
On an additional note, it’s just about time for Valentione’s Day in Final Fantasy XI. The event kicks off this upcoming Monday, February 10, and will run until February 24. Talk to moogles in various locations to take part.
