Look, Summer Game Fest has always been a different sort of beast when compared to other Geoff Keighley ventures like The Game Awards. The tone is a bit more subdued, some smaller companies get some time to show off projects, and most big company announcements are things we already knew about and are just getting more info on.
It's also been a show that had to somewhat "compete" with E3 in years past and, now that E3 isn't a thing, it's still a show that has to try and draw both participants and an audience away from big companies like Nintendo making their own "Summer Showcase" type streams.
To temper expectation on the upcoming Summer Game Fest, Keighley held a Q&A stream yesterday and expressed how much this year's show will largely focus on already announced projects. "There will be, definitely, new announcements, but the show is largely focused on, I think, existing games that have new updates for fans," said Keighley.
Expect the show to be about 2 hours long, but don't expect games like Kingdom Hearts 4, Judas, or The Wolf Among Us 2 to be showcased.
While the initial reveal of some companies participating left some desiring a bit more, Keighley thinks the show will have announcements worth watching, "Hopefully what happens is that people tune in and find something that surprises them."
You can catch the Summer Game Fest presentation on Twitch this Friday, June 7th at 5 PM EST and you can check out the full Q&A below.
