Astute readers may have noticed that in yesterday’s article about Xdefiant’s upcoming launch date, we didn’t mention the PlayStation 4 as one of the platforms the shooter would be available on. Rather, the platforms listed were PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S.
This wasn’t by mistake. Although, some people may have thought it was as at least one person took the time to ask the shooter's devs about it. Ubisoft replied, explaining that they decided to focus on current-gen consoles. This was “to keep a consistent standard of quality for the game”.
Thanks for the question! We wanted to keep a consistent standard of quality for the game, so we made the decision to focus only on current gen consoles. Appreciate the understanding!

In general, people seem to be on board with this, as those with current-gen devices prefer having a game built to take advantage of their device, instead of having to work around the previous-gen's hardware. Of course, this move means players on PlayStation 4 or Xbox One will have to look more seriously at upgrading. It’s not unexpected, at this point in the cycle, but it will still suck for some people.
