Blizzard has added DirectX 12 to Overwatch 2, according to an announcement on the team shooter’s site. The API will not be replacing DirectX 11, but will instead be included as an option for players. DX11 will remain the game’s primary API. The goal is to “embrace cutting-edge innovations from modern GPUs” to offer players a better experience.
Of course, those wanting to take advantage of DirectX 12 in Overwatch 2 will have to meet certain requirements. Specifically, they’ll need Windows 10 Version 1909 or higher, and a DirectX 12-compatible video card. Players should also be prepared for potential issues. As the post notes, players may encounter stuttering during gameplay and some may find their performance isn’t as good as when they use DX11.
