Not only is World of Warcraft one of the kings of the genre, but it also produces some of the best in-game events. From the Darkmoon Faire to the typical holiday events you would expect in a modern MMORPG, WoW brings plenty of activities to keep you busy.
Final Fantasy XIV is lacking when it comes to in-game events. They have special events running throughout the year as well as the usual seasonal events you've come to expect. Plus they had one of the most memorable one-time events in gaming with the end of the original Final Fantasy XIV going into A Realm Reborn.
Star Wars: The Old Republic has special events running pretty much 24/7. Add to that the typical holiday events, and you're never short on something to do in SWTOR. Throw snowballs at others during Life Day, or delve into deep caverns during the Rakghoul Plague event. There's always some sort of special event going on in SWTOR.
The newest game on this list, New World has already established a nice calendar of events and is adding more events every year. Most events in New World see you out in the world, teaming up with other players, to take on a big bad. You can also gather goodies in towns during the holiday events, and receive rewards that are important to crafting, or give a unique look to your attire.
Guild Wars 2 may have some of the most unique events out there. Not only do they have your typical holiday events, but they also have Super Adventure Box and the Festival of the Four Winds, among others. If you're looking for a great MMO that gives you plenty of unique events to partake in throughout the year, GW2 is definitely worth checking out.
Lord of the Rings Online has some of the most iconic events in all of MMORPGs. Drink yourself under the table, or just celebrate your usual round of holiday events. The nostalgia for many players is enough to keep them coming back year after year.
When researching this list, Black Desert Online kept coming up to my surprise. Many players were singing the praises of the in-game events in BDO, saying that they offered some of the most unique and interesting events in the genre. Their events are praised as being very generous with rewards, as well as fun and engaging to play. There's almost always some type of event active for you to participate in.
