MMOBOMB

In case you missed it, EverQuest is introducing two new time-locked progression servers — Tormax and Teek — starting with the Ruins of Kunark expansion and unlocking subsequent expansions for the MMORPG over the following months; these will feature different gameplay experiences and relaxed True-Box rules.
That’s why Daybreak Games is opening up name reservations for players with over 200 days of playtime, as of yesterday. The Name Reservation System aims to streamline the process of securing preferred names for characters upon the launch of a new server. It addresses common issues like name-grabbing by individuals who don't actively use those names, and the overwhelming login activity from users primarily interested in reserving names rather than playing.
To reserve a name, players must pay 499 DBC and ensure the character meets certain prerequisites, including passing character creation name validity checks and attaining at least level 50. The reservation process is tiered based on played time, with different tiers opening on specified dates leading up to the server launch. This tiered approach allows those with varying levels of dedication to secure their desired names, with reservations becoming available to those with higher played time earlier in the process.
The system also includes features such as the "/reservename" command, which provides a convenient way to reserve names, view existing reservations, and check current and upcoming reservation tiers. Reservations are valid for one year after the server launch and are consumed upon character creation. Also, precautions are in place to prevent abuse, such as a 30-day waiting period for characters with recently changed names and restrictions on reserving names from test characters.
