MMOBOMB
Feb 01, 2024
Whenever a game company rolls out a brand-specific launcher, it’s easy to look at it and wonder why. After all, platforms like Steam and the Epic Games Store exist. This is just another thing players have to download. That said, until now, none of these launchers have included the ability to stream your favorite MMO to your phone, allowing you to play wherever you’re at. Nor have they offered players a way to log in with more than one account and play them at once...but one of them does now.
Today, NCSoft America announced Purple – “a modern game launcher loaded with all the features you need for a streamlined gaming experience”. According to a post on the Blade & Soul site, the launcher has a selection of features. The app has its own voice and text chat system that can be used on mobile devices. It also has built-in streaming, a hub, and – of course – a store.
The big features, however, are Purple On and Purple Multiplay. The former allows players to stream their game to their mobile devices in order to play remotely. The latter is basically built-in multiboxing. Those two things might make it worth the extra install.
