If you were paying attention to Gamescom, you may have noticed that the Early Access launch date for Nightingale has been pushed back to Feb. 22, 2024. For those wondering why that decision was made, Inflexion Games elected to answer that question in their most recent Developer Update stream.
Essentially, it’s pretty much all the reasons you’d hear from any developer when they push a launch date back for their game. Things aren’t quite ready, they want to make sure it’s good for the players, polishing, and all that jazz. But the key takeaway here is that while some devs would just go, ‘It’s just early access’, let’s push it and keep working on it’, Inflexion believes that Early Access or not, you only get one chance at a public launch. That said, players are going to have to wait. Hopefully, it will be worth it.
Also of note, the developers discussed things they are trying to improve based on previous playtests. One thing of significance is the issues that players had with inviting their friends during the last playtest. They’re not sure what caused the issues yet, but they’re working on figuring it out before the next playtest occurs.
