Dang it, Bobby!
Halo Infinite is introducing a revamped Firefight mode today called "Firefight: King of the Hill." In this cooperative PvE shooter experience, players face waves of Banished foes while capturing and holding a hill against progressively harder enemies. Teams score points by capturing the hill and defeating Boss Waves, requiring five points to win. The match features five hills, and there is no time limit — making games typically last between fifteen to twenty minutes.
Notable changes include a departure from the traditional shared lifepool, introducing a respawn system where teammates can revive fallen players. Skull difficulty modifiers are dynamically earned based on performance, with semi-random Skulls enabled for subsequent hills.
Also, custom game options provide extensive control over various elements like lives, revives, Skulls, and enemy units. Forge integration is enhanced too, offering advanced scripting options through Node Graph for creating unique and tailored experiences.
As for the progression system, it rewards players with Match XP and bonus XP for wins, while Personal Score contributes to leveling up the Career Rank. And nine maps, including community-made and developer-made maps, are available at launch.
