The developers of Paladins are addressing the divisive issue of Support Keywords.
This feature was introduced to the shooter in Season 6, but it’s already getting phased out starting with Furia and Grohk in Season 7 due to player feedback. Hi-Rez Studios says the decision aims to maintain balance between traditional team compositions and double support strategies, acknowledging that Support Keywords did not significantly impact this balance as initially hoped.
For Furia, adjustments to her base kit include restoring Kindle Soul's healing value and nerfing Inflame's charge gain. Talents such as Exterminate, Cherish, and Solar Blessing are also receiving modifications to align with the removal of Support Keywords. Cherish will have an increased AoE range, while Solar Blessing will see a healing buff. These changes aim to maintain Furia's potency as a hybrid healer while encouraging mastery of different mechanics.
For Grohk, changes made will enhance his viability and versatility. Base kit adjustments include increasing the frequency of Healing Totem's healing ticks. Talents like Totemic Ward, Spirit's Domain, and Maelstrom are being modified to better complement Grohk's playstyle and improve his overall effectiveness. These adjustments reflect efforts to make him a more compelling choice across the board.
Players can test all of the above modifications in the Public Test Server release later this month.
