Following yesterday’s news of SAG-AFTRA’s first signed deal with a game company to protect voice actors from AI, the guild has announced that even more agreements have been signed. According to a report on GamesIndustry.biz, the guild has signed deals with several developers for either tiered-budget or interim video game agreements.
While the list doesn’t include the likes of Activision Blizzard or EA yet, the companies that did sign are responsible for developing about 80 games at the moment. Among these are Studio Wildcard who develop ARK: Survival Evolved. GamesIndustry.biz also lists two indie devs, one of which is working on a debut titled named Vampire Therapist.
It’s not surprising to see Studio Wildcard mentioned, as they’re known for working with television and movie actors and have a partnership with Vin Diesel for Ark 2. While the other companies may not be as well known, it’s a definite push in the right direction – particularly because these developers will be able to push forward with their games, employing SAG actors that the more stubborn larger developers can’t use yet.
