MMOBOMB
May 04, 2024
As you all know, Stunlock Studios is finally taking V Rising out of early access and officially launching it. Of course, these kinds of changes don’t come without a little preparation, so you probably won’t be surprised to hear that the MMO will have a bit of downtime – two days, in fact. The good news is that this won’t be taking place over the weekend. Rather, the servers will come down on Monday, May 6, and remain so until the launch day, May 8.
There will be some important things happening as a result of the launch of which players need to be aware. The new content that will be added during this update will require players to play on a new save in order to experience it. The devs are resetting all official servers as well. That said, if players want to play on an old save, they’ll need to play on the old patch. To facilitate this, a Steam branch has been made available for those wanting to run their own server. Players just won’t be able to play new content if they go that route.
The update will also introduce difficulty settings, which are available as a server setting and can be changed at any time. There are three settings: Relaxed, Normal, and Brutal. Be prepared to pick your poison.
Another thing of note, for those wondering: As it’s the official servers being reset right now, player-run servers will not be included in the downtime. Those playing on those servers can keep playing uninterrupted. A full rundown of what to expect is available on the V Rising Steam page.
