Mods, addons, plugins, whatever you want to call them, we're looking at some of the best games to use them. Not only can modding a game be fun, but it can also be extremely useful. Many MMORPGs are lacking some features here and there, and fanmade addons can help fill those voids. Here are our Top 5 favorite MMOs to mod.
World of Warcraft players have created a ton of addons for the game over the years. Whether you want to customize your UI or know when a raid boss is going to AOE swipe the raid, there's a mod for that in WoW. The sheer volume and diversity of World of Warcraft mods available help it make this list.
The Elder Scrolls Online also has plenty of mods available to download that can enhance your enjoyment and time efficiency in the game. Looking for Skyshards or lore books especially becomes much easier with mods, and you can change up the UI among many other things. Whether you're looking for inventory management or making auction houses better, there's a mod available for it.
Black Desert Online is all about the grind, and there are mods you can use to help optimize your grind-per-hour. The mods available are heavily geared toward maximizing your time in the game whether it be grinding or economy. BDO doesn't have the extent of mods some of the other games on this list do, but what it does have is incredibly useful within the scope of the game.
In Conan Exiles you can mod everything from the launcher to the clothes your character is wearing. That's right, we're back to games you can mod pretty heavily, and Conan Exiles is one of those games that are extremely popular to mod out. Check out Nexus Mods for a list of all the mods available for the game.
One of my personal favorite MMORPGs out there, there's plenty of addons for Lord of the Rings Online. Modify your UI to better track your deeds, pets, buffs, or whatever you're looking to customize. With plenty of mods to choose from, LOTRO is a great MMO to check out and lots of fun to mod.
That's going to do it for our list. There are plenty of other mod/addon friendly games out there, so let us know your favorite MMORPGs to mod.
