MMOBOMB
Nov 13, 2023
On October 20, Square Enix will be kicking off a week-long stress test of a Final Fantasy XIV cloud data center. This test is to help the company determine if cloud data centers are a viable option going forward. To help players understand how the test will function – and explain how to take part – Square published a post today detailing the process.
The MMORPG's data center will be located in North America (East). Players will be required to create new characters on this data center – which they can do by selecting “NA Cloud DC (Beta)” from the title screen and then choosing a world to create the character on.
Once the test is over, the character will be deleted. While it’s going, players will be granted 50 million Gil, a copy of Tales of Adventure Shadowbringers, and Tales of Adventure III for each job so that they can access as many things in the game as possible.
The post also warns players that as this test is encouraging as many players as possible to take part, it will likely result in long queues. If you’re just wanting to play the game and not sit in line to play a character that won’t exist after a week, it might be best to avoid it.
