As the Wayfinder team at Airship Syndicate navigated a bizarre situation after the dungeon-delving game saw Digital Extremes exit as publisher and the game shifted genres a bit after early access, releases on other platforms got a little delayed. While the PlayStation 5 version did eventually make it out the door after it received the Echoes update, the Xbox version was still just slated as "by the end of 2024."
As the year closed, though, it seemed less and less likely that the Xbox version would make that window. The game did get submitted to Microsoft for certification, but then the holidays came with no new news.
That silence is over and we now have a release date for Wayfinder's Xbox port and, honestly, it's earlier than I thought it would be by just a tad. I personally put the release in a February window, but the team has announced that Xbox players can jump in on January 28th. At launch, the game will see a 10% discount (base Steam price is $25) and yes, cross play will be fully functional.
Big congratulations to the Airship Syndicate team on this one. Getting here after the start the game had is very impressive...now to see if players come play. You can wishlist Wayfinder on the Xbox store now and, before you ask, no, there's no current plans for the game to be included via Game Pass.
