Dead by Daylight developer Behaviour Interactive has announced more layoffs, referred to as “strategic structural changes” in today’s press release. This is the second round this year – following 45 layoffs in January. The company is expected to fire approximately 95 employees with 70 of them being staff from the studio in Montreal.
The press release states that after doubling their staff from 575 to 1,300 employees over the past five years, they are now dealing with “unprecedented competition” thanks to the “industry’s unprecedented popularity”. As a result, the company is “renew[ing] its focus on its historical strengths”. Part of this renewal of focus includes changing the company structure to better distinguish between the various areas of the business. Of course, that includes laying people off. The company states that this won’t have an impact on its popular survival horror game, Dead by Daylight.
The press release also states that the company will support the individuals being let go “in pursuing the next steps in their careers.” It does not detail what form of support will be offered.
