Hot on the heels of Capcom releasing their financial results for the first 9 months of fiscal 2024, the company is back again announcing the closure of their multiplayer Resident Evil title Resident Evil Re:Verse. While the financials weren't that great, with a 33% drop in income and slightly over a 16% decrease in sales, the results did fall within the company's expectations given how big their final quarter will likely be with the February release of Monster Hunter Wilds.
That said, Capcom is trimming their library a bit as the focus shifts towards the future of the Resident Evil franchise at this "turning point," according to Capcom. Multiplayer game Resident Evil Re:Verse will be shutting down on June 29th on all platforms. All applicable DLC will be removed from digital storefronts and will longer be able to be purchased after March 3rd. Honestly, I forgot the title was even a thing, likely because I (like most, probably) got the game for free with my purchase of Resident Evil Village back in 2021.
If you did happen to purchase the game or any of its DLC, no refunds will be given.
Re:Verse was meant as a celebration of Resident Evil's 25th anniversary, but the reception wasn't great. It still carries a "Mostly Negative" rating on Steam. Capcom, however, says it served its celebratory purpose "admirably."
Once shut down, the game will no longer be able to be played as no offline mode is planned, so don't go rushing out to grab a cheap copy ahead of shut down if you don't already own it.
