The gaming industry layoffs just keep on coming, though there’s "sort of" good news here.
Daybreak Games has confirmed staff layoffs, although the number of affected employees is fewer than initially reported. Originally, it was suggested by industry tracker Amir Satvat that around 70 people were impacted, but this figure was later retracted as inaccurate. A Daybreak representative clarified to GamesIndustry.biz that the actual number of layoffs was "less than 15" individuals.
The layoffs were attributed to an "overall assessment and recalibration" of the company's business. Teams working on various Daybreak MMO titles, including Everquest, Dungeons & Dragons Online, DC Universe Online, and Lord of the Rings Online were affected. The representative stated that Daybreak is providing severance and transition support to those affected.
