When The Division 2 revealed their plans for a revamp of the way the looter-shooter does seasons, plenty of players, including me, were a bit concerned. The shift to seasonal characters really didn't give players a reason to play their own characters anymore. Sure, they could have some fun in the "Intermission" period that happened at the end of a season, but they were mainly sidelined for the season proper.
I revisited my concerns a little while later when the team dropped an in-depth blog talking more about Seasons 2.0 where they really tried to assuage player concerns saying their "mains" still had a place in the game.
Mercifully, Ubisoft is reconsidering the entire thing. While this won't impact Year 6 plans, it will present changes to Year 6 Season 2 as the team needs to evaluate how to move forward with the new seasons without the previously required seasonal characters.
I still can't even imagine what thoughts led to the team thinking excising characters players spent years building from the core progression of a season was a good idea, but I am certainly happy about this backtrack.
Obviously we need a lot more detail that the team just doesn't have yet, so expect yet another reveal, test server, and streams in the future.
