Year 6 starts in The Division 2 today and Ubisoft's looter-shooter is getting a few key changes to the way it does things on top of all the new content added. The new Year brings the removal of a lot of barriers that The Division had that separated those that owned the Warlords of New York expansion, and those that did not.
We've also got a new roadmap for the year.
Starting today, you can level to the max level of 40 even if you don't own the expansion. Previously, base game owners would cap at level 30. "One Endgame" is a new design philosophy from the team that unites all players into the same endgame content. Again, endgame was previously segregated based on expansion ownership.
In addition to these two large changes, World Tiers have been removed and quite a number of systems and features are now available as soon as a character hits level 40.
New Years in The Division obviously come with new weapons, new cosmetics, and new story, and Year 6 is no exception. As for story...Aaron Keener is alive. I'll leave it at that. If you know, you know. If not, I won't spoil it for you.
Seasons are also a new feature in the game. The Division 2 will now allow the creation of season specific characters. This feature allows some unique challenges, rewards, and modifiers to be used and each new season brings a new progression system and adventure, but some players aren't too keen on this feature seeing as they've put years into their current characters.
