All the talk in space ninja circles lately has focused on the upcoming Warframe: 1999 update Digital Extremes will drop into the shooter this year. We don't have the exact release date yet, but the team is expected to announce that at The Game Awards on December 12th. I wouldn't be surprised if the announcement was simply saying the update was live as of that moment. Digital Extremes has "ninja" launched updates at The Game Awards in the past. That's just a hunch, though. Either way, watching the stream can net you a Twitch Drop from the team so make sure accounts are linked now.
As you sit and wait, a new webcomic has been released taking you through the origin story of the six Protoframes the update features. It's kind a prequel look at the update and its lore. The webcomic comes courtesy of a collaboration with community artist Karu and, damn, does it look amazing. You can read through all 33 pages on the official site.
If you're really a fan of the art and the protoframes, there's even a few freebies you can snag right now. First, log in to Warframe and head to the Marketplace to claim a free version of the comic's cover art to use as a decoration in your landing craft. Second, and this one is for the tabletop players out there, Hoku Props has collaborated with Warframe to release free 3D printing plans for the 6 Protoframe models. Print them up and get painting.
