No more seasons? In a live-service game?
343 Industries announced during a recent livestream that Halo Infinite is undergoing a significant shift in its content release strategy. Instead of traditional seasons, the shooter will now feature "Operations" — shorter events with 20-tier battle passes lasting four to six weeks. The latest update, scheduled for January 30, introduces a new arena map, a fresh operation, a free Mark IV Spartan core, and the ability to equip shoulder pieces on any armor.
The company reassures players that they will continue to add content throughout 2024 though. Community Director Brian Jarrard mentioned additional teams are working on future projects, hinting at a broader focus beyond ongoing support for the current game. This departure from the seasonal/live-service model that most online games follow nowadays could be interesting though, perhaps incentivizing players to keep playing regularly over time instead of only in short bursts when a new season occasionally drops.
