PlayStation’s recent State of Play included three multiplayer games: Marvel Rivals, Path of Exile 2, and Concord.
Marvel Rivals is holding a Closed Beta Test for PS5 in late July 2024. Players can take control of their favorite superheroes and villains in the third-person, 6v6 team shooter. New characters Venom and Adam Warlock were revealed too, alongside a roster of 19. The game is launching on Xbox Series X|S too (in addition to PC of course).
Developed by NetEase, Marvel Rivals offers role-based hero selection, Team-Up Abilities for collaborative play, and a storyline crafted with Marvel Games — centering on a clash between Doctor Doom and his future self, with heroes and villains uniting across realities.
Path of Exile 2 got a brand new latest trailer, confirming that its early access period will commence later this year. The trailer unveils the inclusion of couch co-op, alongside cross-progression between PC and console play. While online co-op remains an option, the trailer emphasizes cross-platform playability. (There is, however, a constant internet connection requirement). The free-to-play ARPG and sequel to Path of Exile is launching on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.
Concord was revealed, offering a 5v5 character-driven, FPS experience set to launch on PlayStation 5 and PC on August 23. Players can expect intense, fast-paced battles where teamwork and strategy are key to victory. The game promises a diverse cast of characters, each with unique abilities and playstyles, allowing for varied tactical approaches. There’s a beta coming soon, too. Concord aims to carve out its space in the competitive multiplayer shooter genre with its emphasis on character-driven gameplay and team dynamics.
