New World is set to release the Season of the Guardian update on March 12th, and with it comes the continuation and conclusion of the MMORPG's current main story quest. This week, Senior Narrative Designer Lula Lucent sat down for a Q&A covering the finale of the MSQ and lessons learned during the development of this final chapter.
Lucent's favorite change is the addition of the NPC Phaeris, who will have a brief but impactful appearance in the New World MSQ. She struggles with being different from the Angry Earth hivemind.
The world design team created a new POI to house an epic boss fight. The penultimate fight will take place in Ebonscale Reach, with the finale returning to Shattered Mountain. The entire Shattered Mountain storyline will focus on an assault on Myrkguard.
Lucent also teases that the next chapter in New World's story is inspired by a book, and it could involve sneaking around underground areas and mausoleums.
