Since releasing Nightingale into Early Access, Inflexion has been busy addressing the various issues players have brought to them. This ranges from game crashes – which are mostly under control – to lost respites and newly discovered exploits. The team is also still working on an offline mode for the game. Most of these issues were addressed today in the latest developer update video. The video covers some of the stuff we’ve seen already, as well as a rollback needed to fix the respite issue.
In addition, the team explains their approach to the development cadence. They note that it’s unrealistic to roll out patches daily – if for no other reason than that impacts player experience with downtime. Moreover, they don’t want to roll things out only to have to come back and fix unforeseen issues, so taking a bit more time with it allows them to test it and hopefully get it right the first time.
There is a bit of a roadmap in this video. One takeaway is that it will be a while before we see the offline mode. The reason for this is how the workload is currently distributed between the game’s server and the players’ computers. They have to figure out how to rework that before offline mode can be a thing. More details are available in the video below.
