When you're game is available on multiple platforms, it's usually hard for us to determine exactly how many people play a given title. You don't need to know the audience across all platforms, though, when your Steam version is only pulling in a couple hundred players. It's a safe bet things aren't going all that well.
Such was the case with Inflexion Games' Nightingale. The survival game certainly looked promising prior to release and the card/realm mechanic seemed interesting. However, the lack of an offline mode at launch hurt the title and some other initial design decisions left the experience feeling less than optimum.
To its credit, Inflexion recognized this, heard the feedback, and moved quickly to add in an offline mode and start improving things.
Today's update is the largest swatch of changes, upgrades, and additions made to date, and the team is well aware that they really need to pick up new players and fast. Will "Realms Rebuilt" do that? Maybe. The Steam Charts are already showing at least an initial burst of potentially interested players. 2,000 is certainly better than the typical 200 players.
Realms Rebuilt's biggest addition sees a reworking to the actual progression of Nightingale. A more clear and concise throughline for the campaign has been added, which should make things a great deal easier on newer or returning players. The acquisition of abilities and recipes has also been drastically improved.
For the creative among you, Estates get a bit of love as the item limits have been increased and height limits have been upped. Structure limits are also being tracked differently. There's an entire FAQ on just this topic for you builders.
New bosses, revamped Sites of Power dungeons, and a plethora of other improvements dropped in the patch, too. Hit up the full patch notes to see it all, but just remember this is only the "0.5" update and more improvements are planned.
You can pick up Nightingale for $17.99, 40% the normal price, until September 26th.
