MMOBOMB
Feb 10, 2024
Today, the Tarisland team dropped another Developer Update video, this time covering the MMORPG’s economic system. The video doesn’t just cover how in-game money works, but instead starts with the game’s monetization system.
According to the video, the game’s microtransactions will focus on cosmetics, pets that can’t be used in combat, and the like. There are also social items such as the “Pay to Love” items which are gifts you can send to friends.
Finally, there are “Benefits”. These are items that the devs describe as “unrelated to attributes” and that “do not affect the core gaming experience”. These items include a larger backpack and warehouse. In that case, the opinion of what impacts the "gaming experience" might differ. Level Infinite will also charge a commission when players make any of these purchases. Of course, the game will also have a battle pass.
As for the in-game economy, it focuses on an in-game trade center where players can trade items made after they learn a profession. Not all players need to learn a profession, as dungeons and other activities will drop items that can be sold as well. Items from professions and PvE drops can be sold for Gold Coins. In an effort to keep down gold seller activity, Level Infinite has set up a market system that relies on the interaction of supply and demand that will automatically drop the price of an item that is no longer in demand on the market. Full details are available in the video below.
