Dead by Daylight’s September 2023 Developer Update is here, and several significant changes and improvements to the horror game are being introduced.
One of the key updates is aimed at addressing the issue of "face-camping" by Killers, which is frustrating to many Survivors out there. Therefore, a new meter will appear when a Survivor is on the hook, filling faster when the Killer is nearby. Once full, the Survivor can unhook themselves with a 100% success chance, even during the second hook phase. However, this ability is disabled when exit gates are powered.
This update for Dead by Daylight also brings changes to The Skull Merchant's drones. Active zones, which allowed the merchant to defend generators, have been removed. Survivors will now receive a stack of "Lock On" when scanned by a drone's beams. At three stacks, they receive a Claw Trap. Drones have two modes: Stealth Mode and Scouting Mode. Survivors can disable drones, and the Claw Trap inflicts penalties on Survivors while revealing their location to the Killer.
Also, the Shattered Square map receives improvements to address issues with low obstacles, size, line of sight, and navigation. The MacMillan Estate maps are expanded with alternate versions too to add variety without changing their unique features. Some Perks, like Furtive Chase and Background Player, receive tweaks as well to make them more viable. Several Killers, including The Trapper, The Huntress, The Trickster, The Deathslinger, and The Legion, see adjustments to their abilities and statistics to balance their gameplay.
