Do we all remember that rumor we wrote about back in May? The one about Valve making their own version of Overwatch named “Deadlock”? At the time, folks were posting screenshots of the completely unannounced game and reportedly YouTubers had already been granted access with NDAs.
Well, according to recent reports, the game has quite a few players – and a very dedicated subreddit. A report on VG247 posted yesterday stated that the game had over 18,000 concurrent players at the time of writing. The post notes that it’s a 578% increase over last month.
Today, that number jumped again, to over 23,000 players (at the time of this writing). That’s also a whole lot of players for a game that hasn’t been officially announced. But, if it’s growing like this, it’s sure to be announced soon.
In fact, it may be very soon as a post on the Deadlock subreddit notes Valve has purchased several “playdeadlock” domains, including ones for forums, beta, and a preview. Of course, we’ll be keeping an eye out.
