Today is a sad day for me. Warhaven, a game that I fell immediately in love with during my very first play session, has announced on their Discord and Steam Page that they will be shutting down live services on April 5th.
Warhaven launched into Steam Early Access on September 20th, and saw an initial surge of players trying out the free-to-play medieval fantasy warfare game. Sadly, the game will not live to see an official 1.0 launch. Steam Charts show a mere 165 peak of players in the last 24 hours, which obviously isn't going to sustain a game.
The official announcement:
"Greetings from the Warhaven team.
"Today, we are here to announce with a heavy heart that we will be concluding the live services of Warhaven.
"From the 1st alpha test in 2021 to the global early access in 2023, Warhaven has come this far, thanks to everyone's love and support.
"We want to express our gratitude for the love and care you have shown for Warhaven.
"To create a game that could be cherished and enjoyed over an extended period, we invested much consideration and effort. However, regrettably, we must bid our sincere farewell as of April 5, 2024.
"We apologize that we could not come to you with better news.
"WP charge will be suspended today. We will notify you further about the exact details of the schedule later.
"Despite all the shortcomings, we will deeply cherish the warm affection and support you have sent towards Warhaven in our hearts.
"Thank you for being part of the Warhaven's journey.
"Sincerely,
"Warhaven Team"
Insert sad Noobfridge emoji here. Sure, the game had its flaws as all games do, but I really thought Warhaven had a shot to be a live service for a few years. I never thought I'd be sad about a Nexon game closing, but this one hits me right in my gamer heart. RIP Warhaven, you will be missed.
