It’s time to break out.
Apex Legends Season 20, titled Breakout, launches at 10 AM (PST) today. That means a new map, Thunderdome, is being added to Mixtape mode, alongside a bunch of gameplay enhancements and adjustments. It’s also the fifth anniversary of the battle royale.
One of the significant additions in this new season is the introduction of "Legend Upgrades", allowing players to enhance their character within a match by earning EVO — which resets each game. These upgrades offer benefits like improving armor tiers. Also, body shields have been replaced with Legend Armor; each is fueled by swappable Shield Cores and each has its own HP. Ranked play undergoes a transformation with Ranked Reloaded, too, emphasizing eliminations over placement and adjusting scoring mechanics to encourage more aggressive gameplay.
Season 20 brings Performance Mode to current-gen consoles as well, enabling them to target 120 FPS for smoother gameplay. Additionally, there’s no more Clubs, now replaced by three to four character tags. As per usual, there’s a fresh battle pass to progress through.
Get ready for Breakout’s launch with all the details on Crafting 2.0, Legend Upgrades, balance changes, and more!
