If you’re worried about the state of Destiny 2 and that it might be going away in the near future, you can relax for now. At least, according to a recent report on Forbes, you can. According to the report, Bungie is shifting the shooter game’s development cycle to include two main releases a year. One of these will be similar to the game’s previous expansions, but smaller. The second would be a free content drop with new stuff for players to do. Currently, it’s uncertain whether the first expansion type will be paid or not.
Aside from that, the report speculates that additional content similar to seasons will be developed as well. Mentioned are temporary events named “Rallies”. Unfortunately, not much is known about that yet.
As pointed out in the Forbes article this shift makes sense as Bungie’s staff has been greatly reduced over the last few years. A smaller development cycle will be easier for them to maintain.
