You may have totally forgotten about Dungeons & Dragons: Dark Alliance. You'd be forgiven on that front as the team hasn't really posted anything on their X account since 2022 and the game's official website just redirects to the Wizards of the Coast site these days. At one point, prior to the game's 2021 release, Troy and I were pretty hopeful for the co-op dungeon-delving title.
It wasn't exactly "bad" when it released, but there were challenges with performance, the progression was wonky as all hell, and for being a "hack and slash" type title, combat wasn't all that great.
Now the game is closing down, and even that announcement has almost little to no "oomph" behind it. It was just kind of slapped up on the digital storefront pages above the game's description...it isn't even it's own news post with a "we're glad you enjoyed it" blog.
Nope. All you get is, "We will be shutting down (shut down) the Dark Alliance servers on 2/24/2025 and it will no longer be available to purchase starting that day. The base game and all DLC are still available to play in offline single player by anyone who currently owns it."
Yeah. I mean, at least you can play solo offline after that, I guess. You'll need to buy it before that same date if you want to play offline, it won't be available for purchase after that.
Now the big question is can we maybe get a winter sale on it? No way anyone is going to grab the base game for $29.99 or $19.99 for the single DLC at this point, right?
