Three years is actually a respectable amount of time for a game to live in this current climate, but this game has been a meww since day one.
Marvel's Avengers, developed by Crystal Dynamics, is facing the end of official support, with the game set to be delisted on September 30. In response to this impending removal from sale, a significant discount has been offered for the game. The Marvel's Avengers - The Definitive Edition is currently available at a 90% discount — $4, down from $40, on Steam. This discounted deal will be available until the same date when the game will be permanently removed from sale.
Crystal Dynamics, the studio behind Marvel's Avengers, has assured existing owners of the game that they will still be able to play it largely as it is today. After September 30, all currently available content will remain accessible for solo and multiplayer play. This includes limited-time events like the Red Room Takeover, which will continue to run on a two-week rotation.
Recurring mission chains, events, and rewards will also continue according to their established schedules. The Operations and the War for Wakanda Expansion will remain playable without significant changes. However, support for Marvel's Avengers will cease, meaning there will be no further updates or customer support for the game.
“Thank you to all our players for joining us on these adventures and letting us tell our stories with Kamala, Bruce, Tony, Steve, Nat, Thor, Clint, Kate, T'Challa, Pete, Jane, and Bucky,” the team wrote on Steam. “For anyone who hasn’t joined us yet, we hope you jump on this final chance to join Earth’s Mightiest Heroes alongside your friends.”
They concluded: “Remember: good isn’t a thing you are; it’s a thing you do.”
