Dauntless’s buff system isn’t all that easy to use. In fact, the developers admit it’s convoluted and that it is resulting in confusion, even for veteran players. Newer players, on the other hand, are just outright ignoring the system.
To address this, Phoenix Labs is streamlining the monster-hunting game's system by creating six core buffs. All buffs, whether they come from weapons, perks, or other sources, will grant players stacks in one of the six core buffs. These core buffs consist of Might: Attack Damage, Critical: Critical Hit Chance and Damage, Speed: Movement and Attack Speed, Vitality: HP, Defense: Damage Reduction or Increased Damage Taken, and Endurance: Max Samina and Stamina Recovery.
These stacks can have positive or negative results and the devs plan to use them to both make combat more interesting and improve balance. That’s a happy result of the change, however. The focus of it is to make things more clear for players while also improving build diversity.
Players wanting to know more about this can hit up the post on the Dauntless site, or they can head to Reddit tomorrow at 2 pm Pacific for an AMA.
