Last September, Ethos posted his First Look video for SYNCED, the F2P shooter from NExT Studios and Level Infinite (which means, by proxy, from Tencent). At the time, he thought the game ran well, was put together well, and overall was just ok. Maybe that's the issue. Being "ok" in a crowded genre really doesn't do your game any favors.
Maybe it should come as no surprise then that SYNCED will be shutting down on September 9th. If you have an account already, you can still play until the game's shutdown date. You won't be able to buy anything in the cash shop. If you don't have an account yet and maybe wanted to try SYNCED before the end, get wrecked, noob. New accounts can no longer be created.
The official announcement (noticed via MOP) doesn't point out the "exact" reason for the closure, but I'm sure we can all guess. No players = No Money.
Recent Steam reviews have been Mostly Negative, mainly due to extremely long queue times (and a few performance issues thrown in for good measure.)
